A crowd of people turned away But I just had to look Having read the book I'd love to turn you on -The Beatles

A Day

My back hurts like an old person.
Like a person who has draped over toilets.
Like a person propelling mops and brooms and dusters
And vacuums
In a vacuum,
Lets sit crooked and talk straight.
Lets listen,
Through pin holes.

No, I don’t want to feel better now. I want to feel better later.
This is all the jumbled up residue,
All the build-up.
I need a razor blade.
A magic eraser.
A fly swatter with a hole at its center.

I celebrate you.
For doing something
Masterful.
I do.
Because its so much easier.

Can you be a mower of lawns,
A changer of diapers,
A driver of buses,
A fryer of wings,

And still make art?

Do you need to change or do you just come as you are?

On breaks- between routes, during naps, after shower, before tea…

Is this how its supposed to work?
Like breathing?
Like just part of a day?
Anyone’s day?

Put down the phone.
Turn off the noise.
Shut up.
And write.
A million. fucking. meaningless. words. just. write.

Like a dog scratching,
Like a small animal burrowing,
Like a cow chewing just write.

Consume.
Consume ink.
Consume paper.
Consume space.
Make your mark.
