I am pleased to announce that Illuminous Flux has been accepted as an affiliate partner with Urban Intellectuals: Positive Black Stories and Images!

Affiliate relationships are new territory on IF. I always had some vague notions about why it wasn’t a good fit in general, but it occurred to me that if done with discernment this could be another avenue for IF to support and promote good stuff in the world. Also, my affiliate partners will dovetail with issues I write about so it will just make a richer reading environment with lots of value for you, my readers.

I’m confused, whats an affiliate?

The Urban Intellectuals website has a lot to offer in terms of content, I haven’t even had a chance to comb through all of it but the history, culture, and inspiring stories sections keep me coming back for more. I am also particularly fond of the “Did You Know?” lessons, because, well, I pretty much never know.

I want to draw your attention to a particular product that I purchased from the Urban Intellectuals store (and how I found UI):

https://store.urbanintellectuals.com/flashcards/aff/nora/

These are Black History Flashcards Volumes 1 and 2. They are amazing. I am so happy they exist. I cannot offer a better description than what is offered on UI:

“Urban Intellectuals is proud to present volume 1 of our Black History Flash Cards, designed to combat the miseducation and suppression of Black achievements around the globe.

This volume’s 52 cards gives a strong foundation to the many untold stories, achievements, and unknown people that have given shape, color, and definition to the worlds of academia, science, civil rights, business, the arts, and more.

Enjoy learning about the revolutionary contributions of our people. Take pleasure in sharing all that you learn with friends, educators, and most importantly, our youth. It is imperative that they understand Black history, become inspired, and take action to build their own greatness!”

These cards are great tools for homeschoolers, and classrooms, and families. They are wonderful conversation starters. They are daily inspiration. They are beautiful and compact, they travel and are easily shared. They are diverse figures from all different eras and they offer just enough to spark interest in learning more.

I encourage you to check out these cards now. They are priced at half off and Black History Month is right around the corner. And please use my special affiliate’s link above.

As a fun giveaway and to celebrate Black History Month, I will be writing a special series over the month of February highlighting a different figure each day from my Black History Flashcards deck. And then….on FEBRUARY 24th, will be the Black History ReEducation Ramble during which I will be hiding cards all over Ithaca, NY for some lucky recipients!
