Commitment Issues

When I have a day off
It worries me
And then inevitably
I enjoy it too much
And then its bitter
Like my coffee
Microwaved too many times
And not ready to commit to a fresh pot.
###

Why I Don’t Dust

I don’t dust book shelves
If books get dusty
This means they belong in the hands
Of another.
If they get dusty
I might see a lucky spider
Or
the lucky one might be the one
With many many eyes blinking
From an unseen corner
Casting webs
Casting spells
Casting well wishes
###

Seasonal Dysmorphia

Sufficient light with insufficient windows
Or sufficient windows with insufficient seal
Scratching feverishly to burrow into something
Impenetrable
Coming up empty
But the exertion is satisfying
Deciding which ornaments can stay and
Pass for winter decor
But they end up looking lonely having shed their
Festive fellows
Adorning their absence
Sometimes
When I watch TV
I see people walking in natural light
On the ground
And there’s green stuff
I miss that.
###

Does it Give You Joy?

He’s doing great with that snow!
Over his knees
In his cuffs
Stuck to his laces
Pushing
Curling
Collapsing
A groove refilling even as its clearing
But I just sit
And admire
Imitation flames reflected in my eyeballs
I’m sorry some things are ruined
I can only care for
So many things
After that they get shoved to the periphery
And whatever happens, happens
No day will be as empty as I wish
There will always be upkeep of some kind
But I find I’m caring less and less
The universe is expanding
And mass is spreading
Tipping over the horizon
Into oblivion
Pushing
Curling
Collapsing
And I take one more step
Toward center
In hopes of offsetting
Its never enough
