Can I stop the flow of time? Can I swim in your divine? -MAX

When I say I can’t do this any more
What I’m really saying is
I will do it with a diaphragm that isn’t cooperating
That I will do it while scraping my knuckles and not notice
What I mean is, I will do it to the tune of my leeched bones rattling

When I say I can’t do this any more
What I’m really saying is- my countertops are sparkling!

When I say I can’t do this any more,
My words never actually read the bus schedule
Or rather, what I mean is,
I am a weathervane
Overestimating and underestimating conditions.

When I say I can’t do this any more
This is the many minutes
I just lost
Staring into the void.

When I say I can’t do this any more
It feels like I’m losing my religion
But actually, I had it at one point
And put it in a particular place for safe keeping
Then promptly forgot where
Just like I can’t answer my security questions
Because I was a different person then
With different ideas about the
Make and model of my first car
And the correct spelling of my mother’s maiden name

When I say I can’t do this any more,
What I mean is- I am locked out.

When I say I can’t do this any more,
I dream in times roman
But I’m living in comic sans
Maybe trebuchet
On a good day

When I say I can’t do this any more,
What I am REALLY saying is,
I am taking the bull by the horns,
And spending the day
Writing bad poetry.
